How CliDeck Works

  1. Connect your console cable (FTDI, CP210x, PL2303, CH340 or other supported chipsets) to your computer.
  2. Open CliDeck in your browser (Chrome/Edge with Web Serial API support).
  3. Select the port and baud rate to get a full online serial terminal.
  4. Optionally, open parallel SSH or Telnet sessions in additional tabs.

Who Needs CliDeck

  • Network engineers — quick access to Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik console ports.
  • System administrators — SSH sessions and console access in one place.
  • DevOps and integrators — runbooks and multiple terminal windows side by side.
  • Students and educators — hands-on practice with real devices without setup headaches.

Runbooks + Multi-Window — Unique Feature of CliDeck

With CliDeck you can open simultaneously:

  • multiple terminals (Serial/SSH/Telnet),
  • a runbook with commands and procedures,
  • notes and checklists.

Copy and send commands with one click to a selected terminal or broadcast to multiple sessions. Faster, safer, and more convenient than juggling PuTTY, text files and copy-paste.

Supported Cables and Protocols

CliDeck works with most popular chipsets:

  • FTDI (FT232 family)
  • Silicon Labs CP210x
  • Prolific PL2303
  • WCH CH340/CH341
  • standard CDC-ACM devices

Supported protocols: Serial (COM/UART), SSH, Telnet.

Security

  • With a local console cable, all data stays inside your browser and is never sent to CliDeck servers.
  • SSH keys remain on your machine; traffic goes directly from your IP.
  • Planned Remote Serial functionality will use a self-hosted agent or hardware node with end-to-end encryption.

Which cables are supported?

FTDI, CP210x, PL2303, CH340/CH341 and standard CDC-ACM devices.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome and Edge. Firefox — partial support, Safari — not supported.

Is SSH and Telnet supported?

Yes, already available. Future updates will extend SSH capabilities (SFTP, Port Forward).

Will Remote Serial be available?

Yes. Future releases will include a self-hosted agent/hardware node for secure E2E-encrypted remote access.

Roadmap

Team Collaboration

Share terminals with colleagues: multiple users can view and work in the same session.

Education Mode

Free licenses for educational institutions. Teachers will be able to monitor student terminals, provide feedback and conduct exams.

AI Assistant

Optionally enable an AI helper that explains commands, interprets terminal output, and assists with configuring devices. Specialized fine-tuned models for network hardware are planned.

(All features above are under development and will be available in future versions.)
